Wes Watkins Reservoir 2011, Campground, Fishing, Lake Fees, Directions

Wes Watkins Reservoir is the new and exciting lake attraction of North Deer Creek Recreation Area in 2011.  The reservoir is located on the southern side of McLoud, Oklahoma.  It is 12 years old and covers approx. 1,142 acres.  Within the last year, Wes Watkins Reservoir has come under new management and is now managed by the City of McLoud.  New hours and fees have been posted at the lake since the beginning of this year’s camping and fishing season.

Cody, the new Onsite Manager, is excited about this year’s activity level.  In a telephonic interview I said I thought it very exciting how much attention Wes Watkins Reservoir is getting.

Cody stated, “Yes, it is exciting.  We are very excited about all the new folks that are visiting.  We hope we will continue to grow and that folks will just come out and have a lot of fun.”

I drove through the northern recreation site. It was very clean, and had great views of the lake. I like how they organized the campsites towards the rear so that it would reduce noise, i also enjoy the slow speed limits which i believe is safer because who knows what could come running or jumping out of the woods. The recreation area also has a Sence of security, i saw a local cop patrolling the recreation area just checking on everyone
